AMERICAN INDIAN MOVEMENT GRAND GOVERNING COUNCIL
MINISTRY FOR INFORMATION
September 6, 2005 Steve Robideau is our brother in struggle. We were deeply saddened to hear that he went home to his ancestors so soon. He was a tireless fighter in seeking justice for Leonard Peltier, and for all Indian people. We did not know of his passing until today. We would like to have joined his family in ceremony to say farewell for now. To Steve’s family, we would like to make an expression of our love and respect for Steve by quoting a great man of peace, Chief Sealth of the Suquamish Nation. In talking to his people he said during an oratory, “For the dead are not powerless.” He paused and asked himself, “Did I say dead? There is no death, there is only a passing to another world.” We will all miss Steve. We will see Steve in the next world. He is a warrior. On behalf of the leadership and all of our brothers and sisters of the American Indian Movement.
